Hi, my name is Andrew, owner of Audio Pharmacist. By profession, I am a hospital pharmacist. I've been working as a full-time pharmacist in Oklahoma City since I graduated with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1996. My hobby is Home Theater. I’ve been a Home Theater enthusiast since 1992 when I started pharmacy school. Home theater is extremely enjoyable for me, and I absolutely love sharing it with my family and friends everyday.

Home Theater is considered a hobby that involves the use of electronics and speakers to enhance our enjoyment of music, movies, and TV shows. In addition, I think Home Theater is also "therapeutic". It can help reduce our daily stress, which is extremely detrimental to our mental health and our physical health like blood pressure and heart diseases. Home theater brings people from all walks of life together locally and worldwide to share and discuss our enthusiasm and joy. In a way, home theater can also give people a sense of "purpose" or goal in life. For example, many enthusiasts do extensive research and plan, work hard to save money, and piece together their dream home theater systems over many years, which is very satisfying once completed.

Some enthusiasts ask, "Do you prefer certain brands because you are an authorized dealer for them?" Keeping up with the latest technologies and audio-video formats can be challenging and exciting. For today's audio, that's Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Dolby Surround Upmix (DSU), DTS Neural:X Surround Upmix. For today's video, that's 4K (3840 x 2160), but 8K (7680 x 4320) resolution is just around the corner. In addition to 4K resolution, I think Dolby Atmos and DTS:X sound are the coolest inventions in years. For example, during scary scenes where there are creepy actions on the 2nd floor (like "Pet Sematary 2019"), you can hear all the frightening discrete sounds above your head like in real life. You can hear dragons, jets, helicopters, thunder, rain, missiles, birds, and many things above your head from the Atmos ceiling speakers. One of the biggest surprises from Atmos/DTS:X is the upmixing done with DSU (Dolby Surround Upmix) and DTS Neural:X Surround Upmix, which takes regular 2CH and 5CH sources and turn them into sounds like Atmos/DTSX. I am very fond of NeuralX and use this upmix feature for almost everything that is not discrete Atmos or DTSX.

Automatic Room Correction (Legacy Audio Wavelet-Bohmer Audio, Dirac Live, YPAO, Audyssey, etc.) is a hot topic when discussing Pre-pros and Preamps. The goal of all room corrections is to EQ the speakers and subs in the room so that the in-room frequency response is more linear. However, you can tailor that response to your preference. For example, if you prefer the bass to be hotter, you can definitely tweak the sound for more impactful bass. For 2CH, the Legacy Audio Wavelet is a great Room-Correction Preamp that features one of the best room correction software in the world - the Bohmer Audio Room Correction. The Wavelet is programmed for your specific speakers at the Legacy Audio factory when you order. Then once you have the pre-programmed Wavelet in your home, you can run the auto-program to "fit" your own room response with your speakers for the best sound possible.
